Getting Started

Software

To first get started in Arduino, you need to download the Arduino Software from the official Arduino website. Click on this link : Arduino Software Download. You would need this to write the program (also called sketches) and upload it to the board. Make sure you download the correct software according to your operating system (OS). More information on how to use this software and its functions can be found at this link: Arduino Software Guide

I have found some tutorials that require me to download the software Fritzing. So what is Fritzing exactly? Fritzing is a software that allows you to design a schematic, and thus a part, which can then be added to very professional-looking wiring diagrams. It even allows you to design your own Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and have them fabricated from the files you design.  In my case here, I am just using it to open the schematics. But this is a great software if you need to document your prototype, share them with other people or even to teach electronics. The best thing about Fritzing is that it is open source (free stuff!). Download Fritzing here: Fritzing Download.

Electronic Components

For beginners in electronics, like me, choosing what to buy to get started can be overwhelming. So I opted for the starter kit. It has most of the required components for beginners' tutorials and it will be easier to build up from there. I purchased one from Amazon. The official Arduino website shop sells it too. But I went for a third-party one as it is slightly cheaper. Just make sure that when you purchase a kit, the Arduino board is also included in it.

This should be enough to get you started for now. Good luck!
